Message from Mrs. Ahart
Dear Wesley families,
I am pleased to welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year. While our first year together was certainly quite different with remote learning, I am pleased that our close relationships with staff, students, and families continued to grow during this time. I appreciate everyone’s communication, patience, and positive attitudes. While I regret that we will not begin our school year in person this year, I am excited about the interactive and creative new platforms we will utilize for remote learning.
Strong family engagement is a critical part of student success at Wesley School. Opportunities to connect include email, Facebook, Twitter, written notes, and Remind, along with attending virtual or in-person school events as much as possible. In addition, our staff will begin using an application called Remind this year to send messages and reminders to parents instead of Seesaw. We recommend downloading the application in order to initiate messages and use the translation feature. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me or your child’s teacher at any time with questions, concerns, and suggestions. It is also important to stay informed about what your child is learning. Your child’s teacher will keep you updated, but you can reach out to share if you notice your child struggling with the content or to discuss strategies for practicing at home.
Our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (P.B.I.S.) program will continue supporting students’ social emotional and behavioral needs this year. We will continue teaching students behavioral expectations including those for Remote Learning via remote cool tools.
Due to the pandemic, many of our routines and instructional strategies will look a little different this year. As guidelines change, we will be flexible in adapting to meet them while still meeting our students’ needs. While addressing academic gaps is important, we know that helping students feel emotionally and physically safe at all times is the top priority at this time. Please reach out with your concerns. I am confident that despite these challenges, we will have a very successful school year.
Thank you for your part in this learning community. I’m looking forward to another wonderful school year!
